Puppet Making Workshops

During Term 1 of 2022 The Concrete Club collaborated with Folk of the Puppetree to present The Hybrid Web. A 10 week program for young people  exploring themes of community identity and how we fit into the web of Margaret River.  These workshops provided numerous multi-disciplinary art forms behind puppet making, costume design and making, and story boarding. Simultaneously working with another group of young people doing lyric and songwriting workshops with the fabulous Bec Schoefiled and Dave Mann from The Nomadics. The outcome being a beautiful film clip of Hybrid Puppets and an original song all created by the Young Folk of Margaret River. 

Mid Winter Lantern Event

 With over 350 community members attending, The Concrete Club held a mid-winter event to showcase all of the programs that had been held over the previous 12 months. This was an opportunity for the young participants to come together and demonstrate their creative works, in one space.
 The lantern parade celebrated large-scale lanterns made during a 10 week program funded by Augusta Margaret River Shire. Alongside this program, members of The Concrete Club collaborated with local mixed abilities art group, Artzability to create jellyfish and shadow puppets. Jelly fish were used Y-Culture – Regional Arts WA Supported young artist Rudy Selmes to upskill and facilitate community Skate and Screen print workshops with professional arts mentoring Mentorship Programs In collaboration with the Cowaramup Mens’ Shed, The Concrete Club also provides an ongoing mentor-ship program for young people who have or are at risk of disengaging with the regular school system. Screen Printing

The Concrete Club bring all the screens, inks and t-shirts, totes, socks or blank skateboards to provide a full screen print set up at events.. Our screens have been designed by young people who have been guided through the process of designing artworks of silk screening.
